What this value means
Niger has no national central bank; monetary policy is set by the BCEAO for the whole UEMOA/WAEMU. The CPM of 4 March 2026 cut the taux minimum de soumission from 3.25% to 3.00% and the marginal lending window (guichet de prêt marginal) from 5.25% to 5.00%, both effective 16 March 2026; reserve requirement held at 3.0%. Rate reconciles exactly with the live Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal files (3.00% / 2026-03-16). Note: Niger (with Mali and Burkina Faso, the AES states) withdrew from ECOWAS in January 2025 but REMAINED a member of UEMOA and the BCEAO — verified; the union-wide rate therefore still applies. Context from the communiqué: union-wide deflation of -0.8% in Q4 2025, inflation projected to recover to 1.4% in 2026. The CPM meeting of 10 June 2026 maintained the principal rate at 3.00% and the marginal lending facility at 5.00%.
