What this value means

The 18% rate itself has been unchanged since 1 July 2009 (cut from 20%); 2015-07-01 is the VAT Act 2014 commencement. Finance Act 2025 introduced a reduced 16% rate (from 1 Sep 2025) for standard-rated supplies to VAT-unregistered individuals paying via approved bank/electronic channels. Zanzibar levies its own VAT (ZRA) at a 15% standard rate. Finance Act 2026 (1 July 2026) made no change to the standard rate; changes typically take effect 1 July via the annual Finance Act.
