UNDECLARED MOVABLE: Maulid Day is statutory but its 2026 date is not yet declared as of 2026-07-15 — expected ~25-26 Aug 2026 pending moon sighting by the Mufti's office; it will be added once declared. Eid dates follow Tanzania's own moon sightings (Eid al-Fitr fell 21-22 March, one day after Kenya). The current Act has NO weekend-substitution clause — holidays falling on Sat/Sun are not moved. Karume Day and Saba Saba rest on presidential proclamations rather than the Act's Schedule but are universally observed. The President may declare one-off holidays at any time.
