What this value means

STATUTORY TRUTH, FAMOUSLY ARCHAIC: set at Shs 6,000/month (~US$1 in 1984) and never revised in 42 years; economically void and unenforced. NOT LAW (never enacted, do not use as current): the 1995 board recommendation (Ush 75,000/65,000), the 2017 board recommendation (UGX 136,000/month — aggregators wrongly display UGX 130,000 as if current), and the Minimum Wage Bill 2015 (passed Feb 2019, denied presidential assent Aug 2019, lapsed). The Employment (Amendment) Act 2025 (assented 29 Apr 2026) overhauled wage-advisory machinery but fixed no national minimum; ministerial sector wage orders may follow — none gazetted as of 2026-07-15.
