Kenya CBK indicative exchange rates (trade-weighted average): 16 reference rates held (US DOLLAR 129.49), cited to Central Bank of Kenya, as at 14 Sep 2026. Last checked against the official source on 14 Sep 2026.

Central Bank of Kenya indicative exchange rates: the weighted average rate of registered spot trades in the interbank foreign exchange market during the trading session. CBK states plainly that it 'does not set the exchange rate; it is market determined based on supply and demand of foreign exchange' — these are indicative published rates, not a fixing and not a tradable quote.

What this value means

Trade-weighted average of registered interbank spot trades, published by CBK as indicative. Currency names are CBK's own labels (e.g. 'US DOLLAR', 'STG POUND'). Every rate here is KES per ONE unit of the named currency: CBK's table also carries the Japanese yen quoted per 100 units and four East African cross rates quoted in the opposite direction ('KES / RWF' is Rwandan francs per shilling), and those are EXCLUDED rather than rescaled or inverted, because republishing them under this unit label would misstate them. CBK DISCONTINUED buying and selling rates on 2024-01-04; from 2024-01-05 only the mean is published, so this series carries no bid/ask and must not be spliced with pre-2024 data, which came from a different methodology. Published on Kenyan business days only, with no carry-forward on weekends or public holidays — an absent day means no rate was published, not that the previous rate persisted.
