Nigeria official exchange rates
The Central Bank of Nigeria's official naira exchange rate: the volume-weighted average rate of the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) for the trading day. CBN states on its published rates table that the NFEM rate 'is derived at Volume Weighted Average and stands as the official exchange rate for the day'. It is a market-derived average that CBN adopts as official — not an administratively set peg, and not the day's closing rate, which CBN publishes separately as a different number.

What this value means
Volume-weighted average of NFEM trades for the stated day, published by CBN as the official rate. Do not call it a fixing or a peg. CBN also publishes a separate closing rate for the same day (a different figure), and a separate buying/central/selling table covering other currencies — those are different series and are not merged in here. Published on Nigerian business days only; the dated value shown is the most recent publication. Reproduced with CBN stated as the source, per CBN's own reuse terms; CBN notes that changes after publication may affect accuracy.
