What this value means
Reference month June 2026. All-items index 184.4 (Dec 2012 = 100), month-on-month +0.3%, core inflation 3.3%, goods 4.2% and services 4.6%. Transport was the dominant driver, contributing 1.9 of the 4.4 percentage points (43.9% of headline), followed by housing/water/electricity/gas/other fuels at 1.1pp; food and non-alcoholic beverages contributed only 0.5pp. This is the highest annual rate since June 2025 and the third consecutive monthly acceleration after a cycle low of 2.1% in March 2026 — the pickup is the energy shock that also drove the Bank of Namibia's June 2026 rate hike. Twelve-month average (Jul 2025-Jun 2026) 3.3%; 2025 annual average 3.5%. BASKET CAVEAT: the NCPI basket is still the 2013 rebasing built on the 2009/10 Household Income and Expenditure Survey — over 350 items, 12 divisions, priced monthly at 900+ outlets, with housing/water/electricity/gas 28.4%, food and non-alcoholic beverages 16.5%, transport 14.3% and alcoholic beverages and tobacco 12.6% of the basket; NSA notes baskets are normally reconstituted every five years, so the weights are old. Namibia has NO published inflation target — the Bank of Namibia's mandate is price stability subject to the 1:1 Rand peg, so do not describe any figure as 'within target'.
