What this value means

ANNUAL bands, exactly as published by RRA (RRA presents the current PIT schedule in annual RWF). Tax-free threshold RWF 720,000/yr. Residents. PAYE is withheld on the equivalent MONTHLY bands: 0–60,000/month 0%, 60,001–100,000 10%, 100,001–200,000 20%, above 200,000/month 30%. This is the 'second year' schedule phased in by Rwanda's 2022 income-tax reform (Income Tax Law nº 027/2022, issued October 2022): a transitional first-year schedule taxed the middle band at 20% (a 0/20/30 structure) before the 10% band was introduced; RRA states these rates apply 'from the second year which is 2023'. (Unrelated to the rate schedule: mandatory pension contributions rose 6%→12% from January 2025, rising further through 2030.)
