What this value means
Gabon has NO national policy rate. Monetary policy for Gabon is set union-wide by the BEAC for all six CEMAC members (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon); this value and effective_from are therefore identical across all six country files. Decision N° 01/CPM/2026 lowered the TIAO from 4.75% to 4.50%, the marginal lending facility rate (taux de la facilite de pret marginal) from 6.25% to 5.75%, and reserve requirement coefficients from 7.00% to 6.50% on sight liabilities and 4.50% to 4.00% on term liabilities; the deposit facility rate was held at 0.00%. The 4.75% predecessor rate is not carried in history because the decision instrument that set it was not retrieved and its effective date could not be confirmed from a primary BEAC source. ACCESS QUIRK: both the decision and the accompanying press communique are IMAGE-ONLY SCANNED PDFs on beac.int - text extraction returns binary garbage, so the figures above were read by OCR/visual inspection of the scan, not text parsing. The beac.int 'Structure des taux d'interet' page does not publish the current numeric rate at all; only the CPM press-release listing does. Currency context: Gabon uses the CENTRAL African CFA franc (XAF), a legally SEPARATE currency from the West African CFA franc (XOF) used by UEMOA states, though both are pegged to the euro at 655.957.
