Mozambique has NO single national minimum wage. Minimum wages are fixed SECTOR BY SECTOR by joint Diplomas Ministeriais of the Ministers of Economy and Finance, of Labour and Social Security and of the relevant line ministry, after consulting the social partners in the Comissão Consultiva do Trabalho, under n.º 4 do artigo 117 da Lei n.º 13/2023, de 25 de Agosto (Lei do Trabalho) read with Diploma Ministerial n.º 161/2007, de 31 de Dezembro. There are 8 economic sectors, several split into sub-sectors, giving 13 distinct monthly figures.

What this value means

DO NOT INVENT A SINGLE NATIONAL FIGURE — there is none. The statutory floor depends on which of the 8 private-sector wage sectors (18 rate lines) the employer's activity falls into, per the classification in Decreto n.º 58/99, de 8 de Setembro. INSTRUMENT MAP: sector 1 DM 34/2026; sector 2 DM 35/2026; sector 3 DM 36/2026; sector 4 DM 37/2026; sector 5 DM 38/2026; sector 6 DM 39/2026; sector 7 DM 40/2026; sector 8 DM 41/2026 — all in Boletim da República I Série n.º 94 de 20/05/2026, signed 1 April 2026 and RETROACTIVE to that date (published 20 May 2026). Increases range 0% (pesca de kapenta, explicitly held at 4,991.09) to 9.28% (hotelaria/turismo). CITATION MOVED OFF THE INSS PAGE DELIBERATELY (2026-08-07): inss.gov.mz still serves the 1 July 2025 table and no longer reflects the law in force, so this series now cites the gazette itself; the gazette PDF at the cited URL is served by the laws.africa archive mirror and refuses non-browser fetches without a browser User-Agent (canonical page: https://gazettes.africa/akn/mz/officialGazette/government-gazette-series-i/2026-05-20/94/por@2026-05-20). Every figure was read from the gazette text itself, twice independently; where secondary sources disagree (micro-finanças 17,924.57 in several advisories) the gazette's 17,924.17 is served. The Função Pública wage (TSU) sits outside these diplomas and outside this series. ANNUAL PATTERN: tripartite CCT negotiation with Conselho de Ministros approval around April; expect the next revision to take effect 1 April 2027 — re-verify by 2027-04-15, and watch for the gazette rather than the INSS page. An outside audit of 2026-08-07 correctly flagged the July-2025 table as superseded.
