What this value means
This is Togo's OWN national IHPC from INSEED - not a UEMOA aggregate and not a neighbour's series. June 2026: index level 106.2 on BASE 100 = 2023. Year-on-year (glissement annuel) versus June 2025: +0.1% - this is the value served. ARITHMETIC CROSS-CHECK done at verification: INSEED's June 2025 publication put the index at 106.1 (base 100 = 2023), and 106.2/106.1 - 1 = +0.09%, which rounds to +0.1%, so the served figure is internally consistent with the base-year index levels. Month-on-month versus May 2026 (105.0): +1.2%, driven by 'Produits alimentaires et boissons non alcoolisees' (+2.4%), 'Transport' (+2.1%), 'Restaurants et services d'hebergement' (+1.1%) and 'Logement, eau, electricite, gaz et autres combustibles' (+0.5%); yam, tomato, pepper and fuel prices were the largest individual contributors. TWO DIFFERENT 'INFLATION' NUMBERS EXIST FOR TOGO AND THEY ARE ROUTINELY CONFLATED - read this before comparing: (1) the glissement annuel, the plain 12-month index change, which is what we serve; and (2) the 'taux d'inflation' headline INSEED and the Ministry of Planning lead with, which is the UEMOA convergence criterion - the ratio of the mean of the last twelve monthly indices to the mean of the preceding twelve, i.e. a 24-month moving-average construct with a 3% convergence ceiling. In June 2026 the moving-average measure was ALSO 0.1%, and had held at 0.1% for five consecutive months; the two measures coinciding in June 2026 is arithmetic coincidence, and they diverge sharply in other months (March 2026: glissement annuel +1.6% but moving average 0.1%; April 2026 press headlined 'inflation stable a 0,1%' while the glissement annuel was +0.7%). The history array below is glissement annuel throughout, so it is internally consistent. Core inflation (hors energie, hors produits frais) rose 0.3% m/m in June 2026; ex-food index +0.7% m/m. Methodology: monthly collection of about 810 products from roughly 4,790 retail outlets, national coverage including both urban and rural areas, basket built from a 2021 national survey, rebased to 100 = 2023. Togo is preparing a GDP rebasing due end-2026 which may eventually be accompanied by an IHPC rebase - a rebase would break index-level comparability though not the growth rates. ACCESS QUIRKS: the download URLs are opaque numeric WordPress IDs (June 2026 = 7866 for the bulletin, 7871 for the communique) that change every month, so the durable entry point is the listing page https://inseed.tg/inflation-prix/ (mirrored at the legacy host stat-togo.org, the same institution under its old domain). PDFs have a text layer but are Latin-1 encoded and French-only. The Ministry of Planning's page at planification.gouv.tg is marked 'en cours de construction' and, where it does print an IHPC headline, quotes the UEMOA moving-average 'taux d'inflation' rather than the glissement annuel - do not source this series from it.
