What this value means
Annual-average IHPC inflation for the Central African Republic was 1.0% in 2025 (harmonised index 117.2 vs 116.1 in 2024, base 100 = 2019), well below the 3% CEMAC convergence norm and the second-lowest in the union after Chad's deflation of -2.6%. Composition in 2025: housing/water/electricity/gas and other fuels +5.1%, food and non-alcoholic beverages +1.2%, education +2.8%; offsetting falls in transport (-0.5%), health (-0.5%), communications (-0.2%), restaurants and hotels (-0.8%) and household equipment. By product nature: energy +6.0%, fresh produce +2.2%, ex-energy-and-fresh +0.3%; local goods +1.3% vs imported +0.6%; primary sector +5.8%, secondary -1.0%, tertiary/services +0.4%. CAR carries a 3.4% weight in the CEMAC aggregate and contributed 0.0 points to 2025 union inflation. NO 2026 PERIOD IS SERVED, and this is deliberate: ICASEES (Institut Centrafricain des Statistiques et des Etudes Economiques et Sociales), the national statistics office and the primary compiler, has its website down - icasees.org returns only 'Site en maintenance! Patienter un peu.' and its IPC/IHPC publications directory returns HTTP 404 - so no monthly or quarterly 2026 Central African CPI release could be obtained from the primary source. web.archive.org is blocked from this toolchain, so a Wayback route to the ICASEES archive was not available either. The most recent officially published Central African price statistic is therefore the 2025 annual average above. BEAC's June 2026 CPM communique projects CEMAC-wide average inflation of 2.4% for 2026 but does not break out a Central African monthly figure. Rather than serve a projection or a news-reported monthly number as if it were a published index, this series stays on the last verified official observation.
