What this value means
Cameroon has NO national policy rate. Monetary policy is conducted for the whole CEMAC zone by the Banque des Etats de l'Afrique Centrale (BEAC) in Yaounde; the identical TIAO applies in Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon. At its second ordinary session of 2026, held in Yaounde on Monday 29 June 2026 under Governor Yvon Sana Bangui, the CPM decided to lower the TIAO from 4.75% to 4.50%, to lower the marginal lending facility rate from 6.25% to 5.75%, to lower reserve requirement coefficients from 7.00% to 6.50% on sight liabilities and from 4.50% to 4.00% on term liabilities, and to keep the deposit facility rate at 0.00%. Easing was justified by contained inflation (CEMAC-wide) and improving FX reserves (4.72 months of import cover projected, after 4.12 in 2025; currency external cover ratio 70.7% after 65.2%). effective_from is the date of the CPM session and of the signed decision ('Fait a Yaounde, le 29 juin 2026'); the decision text does not name a separate later application date. ACCESS QUIRK: both the communique and Decision N°01/CPM/2026 are French-language scanned-image PDFs on beac.int with a poor OCR text layer (the decision PDF has no extractable text at all); figures above were read from the OCR layer of the communique and independently corroborated by the French Treasury (DG Tresor) economic brief for the week of 29 June - 3 July 2026, which reports the TIAO at 4.50%. The previous TIAO of 4.75% dated from Decision N°02/CPM/2025 of 15 December 2025.
