What this value means

STRUCTURAL: monetary policy for Chad is set union-wide by BEAC for all six CEMAC members (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon); there is no Chadian national policy rate and no Chadian central bank. The CPM of 29 June 2026 cut the TIAO from 4.75% to 4.50%, the marginal lending facility rate from 6.25% to 5.75%, and reserve coefficients from 7.00% to 6.50% (sight) and 4.50% to 4.00% (term); the deposit facility rate stands at 0.00%. The preceding CPM of 2 April 2026 had held the TIAO at 4.75%. ACCESS QUIRK: both the CPM press release and Decision N°01/CPM/2026 are published only as scanned image PDFs (Canon scanner output, no text layer) at https://www.beac.int/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/D%C3%A9cision-N%C2%B001-CPM.pdf and .../communiqu%C3%A9-de-presse-CPM-1.pdf, so the numeric value here was read from the live rate ticker on the BEAC homepage (beac.int, independently re-loaded 2026-07-20, which shows 'Taux d'interet des appels d'offres 4.50 %') and cross-checked against the French Treasury's Breves economiques d'Afrique centrale for the week of 29 June - 3 July 2026. The BEAC 'Structure des taux d'interet' page carries only the definitional formulae (TIAO fixed by the CPM; TIPP set above it), not the numeric values, so it cannot corroborate the digits. effective_from is set to the decision date; the decision PDF could not be OCR'd to confirm whether BEAC set a later date d'effet (BEAC practice is usually application from the day after the CPM), and no date d'effet is stated in any secondary account located. This value and effective_from must be identical across all six CEMAC country files. Currency note: Chad uses the CENTRAL African CFA franc (XAF, BEAC), a separate currency from the West African XOF (BCEAO); both are pegged to the euro at 655.957.
