What this value means
ARCHAIC BUT CURRENT: the decree is unrepealed but has not been revised since 2011, so the real value of the floor has eroded badly - this is an honest archaic figure, not a stale record. The statute is written as an HOURLY rate: art. 1 fixes the SMIG at 355 XAF/hour for occupations on the 39-hour statutory week, and art. 2 requires monthly-paid workers to receive at least 169 times that rate, i.e. 355 x 169 = 59,995 XAF/month (widely rounded to '60,000 FCFA' in Chadian commentary; the exact statutory product is 59,995, and 59,995 is served rather than the rounded figure). SECTORAL MATRIX: art. 3-4 set a SEPARATE agricultural minimum (SMAG) of 302.8 XAF/hour with a monthly floor of 200 times that rate = 60,560 XAF/month; the general SMIG served here is the LOWER monthly floor of the two and is the general interprofessional floor, so it satisfies the lowest-general-floor rule on both grounds. Apprentices aged 14-18 may be paid down to 80% of the minimum for the post held (art. 7). The decree repealed Decret n°273/PR/MFPT/94 du 19 octobre 1994; the 1994 amounts could not be retrieved, so no history is served rather than a guess. A widely repeated claim that the SMIG rose to 85,000 XAF (a 2020 political promise) and a stray secondary figure of 89,625 XAF/month were both checked and NO implementing decree could be found - they are excluded. ACCESS QUIRK: the Chadian legal database legitchad.cefod-tchad.org, the original publisher of this text, was unreachable on 20 July 2026 (connection failure); the ILO NATLEX mirror above reproduces the full decree text including the Legitchad footer and is used as the citation, but on re-verification NATLEX returned HTTP 403 to non-browser clients, so the 355 XAF/hour SMIG and ~303 XAF/hour SMAG figures and the decree number/date were re-confirmed against the ILO NATLEX record page for TCD-97322 and the WageIndicator Chad minimum-wage database, which both cite Decret 11-055 of 21 January 2011 directly; the 169x and 200x monthly multipliers rest on the NATLEX decree text as originally read and are not independently corroborated.
