What this value means

The same NWC decision set a first-ever part-time minimum of EGP 28/hour and a mandatory annual raise of at least 3% of the social-insurance wage (floor EGP 250/month); establishments with fewer than 10 workers may seek exemption. PUBLIC-sector minimum rose to EGP 8,000/month in the FY2026/27 budget (disbursements from 20 July 2026). WATCH: a matching private-sector rise to EGP 8,000 is widely expected but the NWC had still made no decision as of 2026-08-10 — the public-sector EGP 8,000 took effect with July 2026 salaries (FY2026/27 budget) while EGP 7,000 remains the binding private floor; NWC members publicly confirmed in June-July 2026 that the private decision is pending a Council session. Re-verify when the NWC convenes.
